Here we go again...
In my memory it started with the pronunciation of Uranus.
Then it was the word, "harassment".
In the past years we've switched from things "disappearing" to all things "go missing".
And now the media is slowly giving us the British version of closing down stores, banks, you name it. Nothing, according to the media, is closing down anymore. It is all being "shuttered".
It is all so very pretentious.

pretentious.

There's my rant for the day....

I remember when Renault was not
REN-OH, but REN-ALT.

I've noticed the word "scheme" being used a lot. This is very British. Not how we have used it, "They had a scheme to rob a bank".(It always seemed to have a sinister tone to it).
But the British meaning is more like a "plan". We saw this in England and had a chuckle-a sign with "Traffic calming scheme ahead" when approaching some speed bumps.
In the papers lately I've seen "Banks report bailout scheme". Still sounds sinister to me but why don't they just say "We have a PLAN"?!

I have to laugh Sue. I used to drive a Renault Fuego. I loved that car. Thom HATED that car! It finally gave up the ghost out in LA and I think Thom broke into song at its demise.

And Riverrat, i have noticed that as well....grrr...
